About the role 

Based in Melbourne and reporting to the Project Director, we are seeking a Procurement Specialist to participate in the procurement, contractual and commercial activities for the delivery of renewable energy projects. The role will involve some cross functional team activities including large scale wind, utility solar PV and battery projects.

Supported by an experienced, driven and growing team your key responsibilities will include: 

• Under the Project Director’s management,  provide recommendations on contracting strategies for the delivery of solar PV, wind and BESS projects;
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, suppliers and consultants;
• Prepare the procurement documents for Request for Proposal for EPC and major equipment supply of solar PV, wind and BESS projects, and related scopes;
• Provide input on the procurement process and commercial arrangements for the selection of contractors, consultants and suppliers, including tendering processes, under the guidance of the Project Director;
• For debt financed projects, support due diligence activities as they pertain to procurement;
• Assist in the negotiation of design, procurement and construction contracts with consultants, contractors and suppliers;
• Participate in the collation, finalisation and execution of relevant contracts;
• Support the negotiation of network connection agreements with the relevant electrical infrastructure provider;
• Support the smooth transition of projects from construction stage to operations, maintenance and warranty phases from a contractual perspective, including responsibility for contractor compliance with all warranty performance related issues;
• Work with the corporate legal team to develop and update standardised contracts where possible and develop procedures for relevant procurement related activities and administration of standard contracts;
• Assist in the development and implementation of the corporate contracts management systems and procedures;
• Provide indicative pricing to the Business Development team for pre-construction stage project assessments and valuations, on request;
• Develop standardised methods and/or tools for indicative pricing of early stage projects;
• Develop and maintain databases of pricing, contractor, consultant and supplier capabilities;
• Ability to work with different areas of the business and utilise influencing skills to achieve agreement and strong commercial outcomes for the business;
• Other reasonable duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a similar position in the energy sector;
• Experience in the negotiation of and entering into contracts (including leases, connection agreements, consultant services, supply, construction and O&M services);
• Demonstrated experience and excellent working knowledge of Australian commercial law, with tertiary qualifications highly regarded;
• Appreciation of the planning and legislative issues that affect power generation projects;
• An understanding of the financial aspects of projects; 
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, both internal and external;
• Extensive contract management experience;
• Experience with a range of project contract structures (EPC, S&I, BOP) preferred;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Strong negotiation skills;
• Computer literacy including intermediate to advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite;
• Available to travel nationally as required;
