Product Area Lead - Safe Business, Mortgages

At ING, the Mortgages Tribe is responsible for driving the end-to-end performance of the Mortgages business through development of a clear strategy and working collaboratively with all areas of the business to drive cross functional execution of this strategy.
We are looking for an experienced Product Area Lead - Safe Business, to join the Mortgage Tribe Leadership Team within the Retail Bank. This role is a pivotal leadership position within the Mortgages Tribe, responsible for overseeing strategic risk management initiatives encompassing both proactive and reactive measures. This multifaceted position involves enhancing the overall risk profile, leading large-scale remediation efforts, managing IT risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards ongoing.
What You’ll Do

• Develop and execute strategies to enhance the safety and resilience of business operations, focusing on proactive risk management collaborating with the end-to-end value chain to align Safe Business practices with organisational goals
• Actively craft strategy with the broader Mortgage E2E Leadership Team with a specific vision and focus on what risk management will look like from a process, people and policy POV
• Implement proactive measures to prevent the recurrence of issues and improve overall risk resilience whilst implementing preventative measure to minimise potential risks
• Lead and coordinate efforts for large scale remediation projects, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational standards
• Assume accountability for IT Risk Management, working closely with CIO teams to identify, assess and mitigate emerging risks

What We’re Looking For

• Risk Management Expertise: proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive risk management strategies
• Strategic Leadership: strong strategic thinking and leadership skills to drive the vision and execution of Safe Business practices
• Regulatory Understanding: in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing the mortgage industry
• Issue and Crisis Management Experience: experience leading teams in the identification, escalation and resolution of issues, crisis events and large scale remediation projects
• Analytical Mindset and Communication Skills: strong analytical skills and strong verbal/written communication skills to convey complex risk concepts to various stakeholders
