ROAME. Product Developer / Garment Technician

Attention to detail, bespoke in house designed prints, beautiful finishing, and ease of fit and form are the handwriting of the brand. 

About The Role: 

We are seeking an all rounder who loves to multitask & problem solve, with industry experience in previous roles such as  Product Developer, Garment Technician and/or Production Coordinator. We are a small team so it is also a great opportunity to have a responsibility to improve efficiencies and workflow by implementing new processes, building on existing development systems, and restructuring where opportunities are identified.

Responsibilities:

Supplier Responsibilities:

  • Building meaningful working relationships with our network of suppliers, through effective communication.
  • Confirm costs including materials, trims and make are workable before development starts.
  • Negotiating prices to achieve margin targets whilst maintaining product quality.
  • Look for new suppliers when needed.
  • Develop and coordinate the critical path at all stages from development to bulk production including: Sourcing and checking availability of materials and trims, Management of Lab dips and S/O, Management of sampling fabric
  • Ensure each stage of sampling is received on time according to critical path including Proto samples, Photoshoot samples, SMS, PPS & Shipping samples.
  • Ensure purchase orders are raised in line with critical path
  • Ensure bulk is received in line with delivery dates on critical path


Garment Tech Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure garments adhere to our standards of quality and sizing specifications from development through to production stage.
  • Technical management including fit consistency, garment efficiencies, grading, packaging, quality assurance and compliance 
  • Organisation and management of fit sessions including measuring and preparing garments, compiling clear and concise comments and photos, do fit comments and manage clear communication with suppliers.
  • Provide technical suggestions and feedback aligning to fit, design and price goals.
  • Ensure all information on the specification of the product is followed and executed to avoid any foreseeable problems.
  • Brand awareness, knowledge of market and peer groups in regards to make, quality, price, style
  • Consider the environmental, social, and economic factors in development decisions.
  • Ensure sustainability values maintained throughout the design & development process.
  • Seek feedback from the Sales team, review product and gain feedback for continuous improvement of product.

Administrative Responsibilities: 

  • According to our testing policy, test any garments where appropriate including wearer trials and dry clean testing.
  • Create technical drawings using Adobe Suite
  • Create presentations using Adobe Suite
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Creative Director, Design and Production Manager
  • Log all sets of product samples and follow up with PR/makers/brand managers to ensure the stocktake of all sets is always accounted for.

Skills:

  • 3+ years experience in a similar role.
  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in fashion design or textiles
  • Experience in technical fabrications and manufacturing processes 
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction, specifications, grading and quality control. Pattern making experience highly regarded.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to problem solve with a solutions focus.
  • Strong Organizational & Communication skills
  • Passion for creating exceptional products and collections.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively within a team as well as independently  
  • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet tight deadlines 
  • A friendly and professional attitude 
  • High attention to details and strong organisation skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and/or Google Drive / MS Office.
  • Positive and driven individual
