As a Product Development Chemist, you will be responsible for driving Product Development activities for our concrete admixture and cementitious mining and tunnelling product ranges.
Key activities and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with Technical, Sales, and Segment and Product Managers to identify and explore Product Development opportunities
- Developing project scopes and objectives, and tracking and managing progress through to completion
- Designing systematic and comprehensive laboratory trial and testing programs to facilitate Product Development and performance management
- Performing laboratory trials, and testing raw materials and products in accordance with AS 1478, AS 1012 and other relevant standards and methods
- Monitoring and managing testing programs by analysing data as it becomes available
- Effectively communicating project progress and outcomes through reports and presentations to relevant stakeholders
- Performing scale-up studies and supporting plant trials, field trials and product launch activities as required
- Ensuring effective laboratory operations through management of equipment, materials, and documentation, and guiding laboratory technicians
- Contributing to safety culture by proactively applying WHS principles to the planning, execution, and conclusion of all activities
About you:
- A Degree in Science (Industrial or Applied Chemistry, or Materials Science fields preferred), or extensive relevant experience within the industry.
- If degree qualified, applicants with minimum of an internship / work experience in a similar field are encouraged to apply. However, 5 years experience in a construction materials testing laboratory (specifically concrete, mortar and grout testing), or in research involving construction materials is highly desirable.
- Capability to understand raw materials and their functions in formulations
- Self motivated, able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computing skills
- Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical and evidence based working style
- Physically fit and capable of undertaking concrete and mortar testing activities
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and working collaboratively
- Willingness to take ownership, learn, and manage your responsibilities
