The Product Development Officer’s role operates within the Product Development Hub for Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure. You will support the Product Development Manager (Asphalt) to deliver research projects plus asphalt design and testing work for our trans-Tasman business.
The Product Development Hub is the Australian arm of Road Science (a Downer Company). This hub, formerly known as the National Research and Development Laboratory, is a flagship research facility, developing and supporting R&D which primarily consults to Downer's Transport and Infrastructure operations that build and maintain over 40,000 km of roads nationally. We pride ourselves as leaders in the industry for innovation, technology and sustainability evidenced by initiatives such as Reconophalt, HaulPac and EcoPrime.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary Qualification in Science, Engineering or Materials (Background in Pavement Materials or Asphalt favourable)
- Knowledge and experience in one of the following technology areas is desirable; Bituminous Binders, Asphalt Design, Pavement Engineering
- Demonstrable and successful experience working in a Civil Engineering Technology Laboratory environment and quality system, preferably a NATA accredited facility is required
- Experience in researching and understanding complex information to develop and implement technical solutions
- A flair for problem solving and formulating solutions
- Strong safety focus - actively participate in and support Downer Zero Harm initiatives and strategies
- Laboratory duties including sampling, sample preparation, testing, training, research, equipment checks, report preparation and maintenance in line with the laboratory quality system
