About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced 'Product Specialist' to join our high performing Construction Industry team overseeing our Hydraulic Excavator Portfolio. This is a permanent, full-time role that can be based out of any of our major business centres (ie. Brisbane, Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville, Toowoomba, Darwin).
The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of the General Construction Industries (GCI) Hydraulic Excavator (HEX) strategy and management of the HEX product portfolio and end to end product strategy aligned with business targets.
The key responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to:
- Support with the development and implementation the General Construction Industries HEX product strategy aligned with sales and services growth targets to deliver profitable growth, improved customer experience, and increased market share (PINS).
- Become the Subject Matter Expert for the HEX product range, including management of model configurations, pricing, features and benefits, technologies, after-sales support and knowledge competitive models and offerings.
- Accountable for implementing the end-to-end product strategy for assigned products, driving a product roadmap, and managing the product lifecycle strategy.
- Accountable for inventory management (stock turns, forecasting accuracy, NPI) and inventory investment to ensure inventory position is in line with budget projections and new equipment sales metrics (i.e. PINS, participation, closure).
- Responsible for all HEX product management processes, including reviewing and building product packages and standard jobs within AX and iQuote, updating pricing for both Cat and non-cat suppliers for all HEX products and updating Caterpillar merchandise programs within the sales management tool (iQuote).
- Responsible for identifying new segments / opportunities to acquire new customers and retain existing customers to support business unit market share and services growth targets.
- Work closely with Caterpillar Product Specialists and Territory Manager to efficiently manage HEX issues, drive product enhancements and increase market share.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to customers, Caterpillar, suppliers, HDAL safety, operations, training and inventory teams.
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
- Minimum five years' experience in a sales, business development or product management role within the Construction Industry
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Management or equivalent employment experience
- Demonstrated experience in product management supporting construction equipment with sound technical knowledge
- The ability to develop positive working relationships and have commercial and product conversations with a diverse range of stakeholders including customers, suppliers, workshop and operational team members
- In depth knowledge of Caterpillar Construction Industries Products, pricing, specs, applications, features and benefits
- Flexibility to travel to our regional business centres
- Trade qualifications - Certificate III Engineering (Diesel Fitting) considered advantageous
- Knowledge of dealership business processes, systems and planning desirable
- Previous experience in Caterpillar dealer operations would be viewed favourably
