Our primary business is the fabrication of flat trays to rigid vehicles, these are built on two parallel production lines in a well-resourced, Dandenong South facility by a small and experienced team of passionate and professional body builders. Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Engineer specialising in Production Engineering and Product Development to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimising processes, enhancing safety standards, and driving innovation within our production operations. Objectives of this Role:
- Assess safety risks and optimize processes, equipment, and materials to enhance safety programs and drive efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement in addressing design challenges, focusing on enhancing value and streamlining operations.
- Collaborating with our engineering team to implement Finite Element Analysis (FEA) testing methodologies to ensure robust performance and reliability of our steel and aluminium tray variants.
- Innovate, design, and test solutions aligned with organizational goals and analysis findings.
- Maintain compliance with local and national regulations while delivering innovative solutions.
- Lead employee training initiatives to enhance productivity and foster professional development.
Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and increase safety culture within production operations.
- Lead production programs to prevent waste and inefficiency.
- Research and test design ideas, utilizing lean manufacturing principles and root-cause analysis.
- Design and develop robust manufacturing concepts to improve processes and ensure best practices.
- Collaborate with the Head of Engineering on FEA analyses, prototype building, performance evaluation, and issue resolution.
- Create and maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, including flow charts, SOPs, and time studies.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to reduce new product development lead time.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Five or more years of engineering experience.
- In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes.
- Proficiency with analytical tools, workflow time studies, and lean processes.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and provide guidance to both junior & senior team members.
- Proficiency with Solidworks.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering.
- Experience in running Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of components.
- Knowledge of advanced product quality planning and production part approval process.
