We have an opportunity for a Production Manager - Sterile Insect Technology to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.The Production Manager, Sterile Insect Technology is responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Sterile Insect Technology (SIT) Facility and provide support to the Facility Manager. The role plans and coordinates production scheduling to meet outbreak and research demands, provides direction to staff working within the Facility who are responsible for managing and monitoring the regular and ad hoc servicing, maintenance and calibration of equipment and machinery used in the facility. The Production Manager is also responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, monitoring and reviewing of Standard Operating Procedures and facility biosecurity procedures, and those that support the maintenance of the parent colony, egg laying, larval and pupal development.The Production Manager is also responsible for ensuring that staff training requirements are maintained, and regularly audited, providing feedback and comment when the need for additional training is identified.The Production Manager oversees the management, monitoring and documentation of quality control checks and auditing of systems to ensure that they continue to meet agreed standards, and rectifying any concerns identified. The role contributes to delivering the agency's priorities by supplying sterile Queensland fruit flies to key industry stakeholders for use in outbreak situations (both inter and intra State) and helping support the continuance of the Riverland Pest Free Area.About UsSouth Australia is internationally recognised for the quality of its agriculture, food, and wine.
