The opportunity
We are currently seeking a Production Manager for a heavy industrial processing plant. You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant, ensuring that quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met. You will also manage the production staff, provide training and coaching, and resolve any issues that arise. The primary focus of the role is leadership, commercial support and oversees administrative services for the production function of the plant, contributing to the achievement of plant objectives and conforming to regulatory and company’s policy. This is a site-based full-time role in Tasmania with relocation packages included.
What the role entails
- Create and implement SHE systems that ensure the safety and well-being of all staff and the environment.
- Allocate and manage resources to minimise and mitigate risks and hazards and maintain a clean and eco-friendly work site.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily work activities of the production team.
- Monitor and control costs and take action to prevent any overspending.
- Lead, hire and train the production team to achieve optimal employee performance.
- Manage the logistics to ensure the desired shipping rate and minimise cost/tonne.
- Support the development of strategic plans for the site.
- Lead the implementation and commissioning of Capex projects and also business improvement projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of production processes.
- Demonstration of an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
What you will need
- A tertiary qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field
- Extensive production management experience in heavy industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, mining and processing plants
- A strong leadership background in manufacturing processes and equipment
- Knowledge of SAP, Engineering concepts e.g. P&IDS, drawings/concepts and process knowledge
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
- A high level of problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex and changing situations
- A good knowledge of quality management systems, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety standards
- A willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by the production schedule
