The Company
A specialised engineering company located in the Hills Area with huge local growth potential is looking for a Production Planner to focus on improving processes, production planning and accountability. This role will continue the push for a customer centric approach to production. The goal, as you might expect, is increased profitability for the overall business and improved customer satisfaction.
With a history of over 40 years, the organisation is known for quality electronic/electrical products for use in the industrial and mining sectors. With an accredited lab onsite, the company adheres to the strictest quality controls for their products. The company is part of a global organisation with a history dating back over 100 years.
We are searching for an experienced, hands-on Production Planner to bring your knowledge of streamlining planning processes and utilising the extensive knowledge from the long-tenured team in Engineering and Production. The company has excellent growth potential, and key leadership appointments in recent years are bringing renewed strategic direction, guidance, and is delivering results. The business is performing well financially and has stability.
You’ll be trained, guided and mentored by the experienced Head of Operations who knows the role well – he was previously in charge of planning when he was the Production Manager.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will have the full support of the Senior Leadership team to be successful in your role. You’ll be working closely with the teams in Sales, Production, Customer Service, Purchasing and Engineering.
This is a hands-on role, with a focus on identifying/preventing/rectifying production slowdowns to improve the pace of delivery for new orders and repairs. There is substantial knowledge in the many long-term employees so building the relationships with them will help you be successful. Technical knowledge is highly respected in this organisation. You’ll be able to get involved with departments across the business, you won’t just be stuck behind your desk staring at a screen.
Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating the manufacturing and assembly of products - liaising with line managers on planning and predicting customer orders
- Performing analysis of production and determining optimum stock control levels in collaboration with other departments
- Continuing to promote cooperation across the departments and helping to improve cross-department communication
- Being across all WIP, helping ensure there aren’t any bottlenecks to product/repair deliveries and acting where necessary
- Ensuring data is entered into the ERP so each department has visibility of where things are up to and what needs to be prioritised
About You
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Production Planner/Scheduler or similar experience with manufacturing of Electrical/Electronic Components or products – we need your sound technical knowledge to be able to improve forecasts and productivity – open to Mechanical Engineering products
- A hands-on approach to Production Planning - this is a role for a ‘do-er’ who brings teams together
- Intermediate to strong MS Excel skills - you’ll be analysing and reporting on the data through Excel and the current ERP Clear Enterprise – the move to SAP has been delayed but is coming
- Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills - building rapport and relationships with the teams both inside and outside your direct control
- To be able to adapt to priorities – sometimes customer needs will change, and you’ll need to work with other teams for the best solution
