Light The Fuze Pty Ltd located in Collingwood in Victoria and is seeking to employ a Production or Plant Engineer with relevant experience. This role will suit a highly organised, hands-on Production or Plant Engineer.
The Role
This is a full time position with an annual salary between $90,000 to $100,000 plus superannuation, and will be based in the Collingwood region.
The Responsibilities
- Analyse documents and charts to understand the workflow, responsibilities, and identify areas of duplication or inefficiency within the plant operations.
- Develop and implement programs to measure work efficiency, productivity, and labour utilization standards across various operations within the plant.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of how the workforce is deployed, identifying areas where efficiency can be improved and proposing solutions to optimize labour utilization.
- Review and optimize the physical layout of the facility and analyse operational data to enhance production schedules, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Engage in the design of mechanical equipment, machines, and systems that are integral to the manufacturing process, ensuring they meet production needs and efficiency standards.
- Outline detailed specifications for the manufacturing process, including material requirements, equipment needs, piping, material flows, capacities, and the overall layout of the plant and systems.
- Oversee the allocation and management of project labour, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and within set timelines.
- Coordinate Delivery of Materials, Plant, and Equipment: Manage the logistics of material, plant, and equipment delivery, ensuring resources are available as needed for uninterrupted production.
- Set up standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection, and maintenance, adhering to engineering principles and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of the plant to ensure that all equipment and systems are operating at peak efficiency and performance levels.
- Lead the maintenance activities for plant infrastructure and equipment, coordinating schedules, and ensuring minimal disruption to production processes.
- Work with other departments to define requirements for new equipment or system designs, and conduct surveys to gather necessary data for planning and implementation.
- Create and oversee maintenance schedules that ensure all equipment and systems are kept in optimal condition, reducing downtime and extending their lifespan.
- Review and optimize production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources while managing and reducing operational costs.
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring all operations comply with local health and safety regulations, conducting safety audits, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
The Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting, with a proven track record of improving processes and efficiency
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in leading and managing engineering projects, including resource allocation, timeline management, and budget oversight
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- At least 3 years of experience in overseeing the maintenance of industrial equipment and facilities, including preventive and corrective maintenance strategies
- Expertise in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software for creating detailed designs of mechanical equipment, components, and systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, including lean manufacturing principles, to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
- Able to work independently and within a team setting under pressure
- Able to communicate in Mandarin with manufacturing team in China will be beneficial
