An opportunity exists for an experienced Production Supervisor with ‘ready to eat product’ experience. Preference would be given to dairy or meat experience. A formal qualification would be a distinct advantage.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be required to provide support and guidance, work alongside the process operators, monitor quality, food safety & maintenance. The role also requires you to report any irregular events that deviate from standard operating procedures.
Duties:
- Liaise with Technical Support – QA & QA Co-Ordinator, providing assistances with
Internal/External Audits and work improvement notes (WIN). Carrying out pre-operative checks, daily swabbing before starting production. Reporting of any variances. - Supervising Staff – training, leading, directing and giving clear instructions. Organising staff coverage for planned and unplanned leave. Ensure the plant is fully manned at all times
- Quality - driving quality, steering staff to be quality focused at all the times. Right 1st time approach. Fluent with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Program (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practises (GMP) with a view to lead improvements arounds food safety.
- Plant and Preventative Maintenance - is proficient with dismantling equipment and minor trouble shooting. Able to train staff with disassembling and reassembling of equipment. Ability to carry out intrusive maintenance.
- Daily Production & Weekly stock. Daily output and wastages together with any downtime are to be recorded. Discussed any major non-compliance and mishaps with Operations Manager. Weekly stocktake of higher value items. Monthly stocktake of all raw materials issued to production. Trending of wastage, production giveaway and labour utilisation.
- Managing Hygiene. Due to the nature of the produce it is critical the guidelines are followed. Processes are designed and tested prior to putting into practise.
- Health & Safety –Ensuring the company’s health and safety guidelines are followed
Skills and Experience:
- Able to work confidentially and handle sensitive information
- Good communication skills and ability to lead a team
- Aptitude for working with a range of automated production lines
- High level of motivation
- Well organised
- Able to work methodically, quickly and accurately to meet targets
- Able to analyse and interpret information
- The position includes lifting and some physical exertion
- Forklift license ideally with high reach
