About the role

The role of the mentor is to work in partnership with a participant, to co-design a Pathway Plan, and provide guidance through flexible and responsive mentoring support. The program is designed to assist participants to identify and pursue their goals and connect to opportunities and support services in the areas of parenting support, health and wellbeing, safety, financial literacy, and other life skills including further education and employment prospects within their local communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work according to the Brave Model of Mentoring framework and support current and new initiatives in Brave’s Pathway Program service delivery
  • Work in a way that aligns with promoting accessibility, inclusivity, and self-determination which ensure participants can develop their own goals and plans without judgement or discrimination. Ensure professional boundaries are consistently upheld
  • Advocate for participants as needed and identify and facilitate appropriate referral pathways to complement pathway plan and goals
  • Maintain a standard of service to participants and stakeholders by responding to tasks in accordance with the Model of Mentoring, and in a timely and respectful way whilst always ensuring Brave’s values are upheld
  • Provide short term support services and where necessary refer participants to appropriate providers
  • Maintain accurate and up to date participant files, changes in circumstances including contact information and referral information using the Brave Client Management System
  • Meet timelines and expectations for completion of key measurement activities to support the organisations funding obligations.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements of the role.
  • Identify new stakeholder relationships and opportunities to promote Brave and the mentoring program whilst fostering collaborative working relationships
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with community groups and private businesses, to develop strong referral networks for Brave Foundation to meet participant needs
  • Participate in appropriate community networking meetings as required
  • Facilitate the administration and progress of any relevant working groups and/or committees
  • Regularly attend and contribute at stakeholder meetings as a professional representative of Brave Foundation
  • Deliver special projects, including but not limited to continuous improvement, research, and analysis, as allocated by management that are within your skill set and experience
  • Continue to develop professionally and personally to meet the changing needs of the position and the organisation
  • Contribute to an effective and respectful system of communication with all participants and fellow employees at Brave Foundation
  • To work at Brave, the successful candidate will be required to provide a National Police Check, a Victorian Employee Working with Children Check, evidence of Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination and comply with Child Safety standards.
