Position: Program Coordinator - Victorian Rural Generalist Program

Location: Remote or Negotiable within Rural and Regional Victoria

EFT/Hours: 1.0 EFT (80 hours per fortnight)

Status:Fixed Term Full time (2 year contract 1/7/2024 - 30/6/2026)

Salary/Hourly rate: $119,714 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation

The successful candidate will be employed by NCN Health, however will be seconded to the Department of Health for the term of the contract.

About the Role:

The Victorian Government is responsible for ensuring that a wide range of health care services are delivered to the Victorian community. In 2019, the Department of Health developed a Strengthening Rural Generalist Training plan that built on existing department funded rural medical workforce programs and investment in rural medical workforce training to develop a statewide VRGP. The Victorian Rural Generalist Program (VRGP) is a key priority that supports the education and training of rural medical practitioners with the aim of encouraging rural recruitment and retention to meet rural community need.

The Program Coordinator is focused on the state-wide coordination of VRGP delivery, budget management, monitoring, reporting, marketing, stakeholder engagement and pre-vocational education activities. The role provides education and expert advice to internal and external stakeholders on delivering the John Flynn Prevocational Doctors Program (JFPDP), the effective use of the VRGP trainee information management systems and other components of the VRGP.

The role is required to travel to the five rural regions (Barwon Southwest, Gippsland, Grampians, Hume and Loddon Mallee) to support Regional Coordination and Clinical Leads. Occasional interstate travel is required for meetings and marketing events.

  • Tertiary Qualification in fields related to health care provision or public administration
