About the role
We are seeking a dynamic Program Director - Strategic Projects, based in Nerang – Gold Coast, to lead a multi-billion dollar program of strategic infrastructure projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact, shaping the future of the Gold Coast for generations to come. You will be responsible for leading experienced Project Managers and other specialists in the delivery of the City's strategic infrastructure program. These projects are considered ‘City Shaping’ and of strategic priority to the City. Project deliverables will meet the infrastructure needs of our growing population and provide key infrastructure for the 2032 Olympic and Para Olympic Games to enhance the Gold Coast way of life.
What you’ll be responsible for
You will be entrusted with the safe, timely, cost-effective design and delivery of Strategic Projects. The position has accountability across all aspects of the project lifecycle including business case development, design, procurement, delivery, commissioning and handover. Your role will involve leadership and vision, people management, stakeholder engagement, service excellence and financial management.

We’re looking for people who have
- Complex Infrastructure Delivery - Significant relevant experience in the planning, design and delivery of large complex public Infrastructure programs and projects.
- Leadership Capabilities - Demonstrated success in establishing, developing and leading high performing teams providing strategic project delivery at a scope and scale of operations that is consistent with this position.
- Business Transformation and Change Management – Extensive experience in building capability and capacity of organisations to deliver complex infrastructure programs, including people, governance, processes and systems.
- Commercial Acumen - Demonstrated capability in delivering value for money and cost-effective project solutions, forecasting, reporting and contract management. Alongside demonstrated experience, the development of business cases for major infrastructure projects under State Government BCDF, PAF or other assurance frameworks.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Demonstrated experience in relationship development, networking, negotiation, influencing and interpersonal skills to deliver complex project outcomes and stakeholder objectives.
- Delivered Customer Value - An outstanding track record in implementing strategies or initiatives that enhance customer experience and deliver community or shareholder value.
