Our story

Our journey to transform BEN into and bigger, better, stronger, and more impactful business is well underway. Our Transformation will radicallysimplify our business, modernise our technology and digitise our customer journeys,supporting our people to provide exceptional service and relevant solutions to meet customer needs.

Historically BEN Business Banking and Rural Bank have existed as two entirely separate businesses, with Rural previously existing as a separate banking organisation. Since 2019 activity has gradually been underway to bring the two businesses together into a consolidated Business & Agri (Rural) division of BEN.

During 2024 the formal migration will be undertaken to move Rural across to BEN products, platforms, policies, and processes. To support this consolidation, and the future growth of the combined Business & Agri division, there is also the introduction of a new consolidated CRM and end-to-end product origination platform happening simultaneously.

From 2025 onwards Business & Agri will look to evolve and further build out its new consolidated ecosystem, leveraging modern release and change methods to accelerate features and capabilities that will benefit customers and bankers.

As the Program Director you'll own...

  • Program Delivery - leading end-to-end delivery of a significant and complex strategic transformation program including introduction of a new banking platform, CRM, Data Lakehouse integrations, multiple customer migrations, to a hard regulatory deadline whilst managing dependencies, vendors, and risks.
  • Governance - Managing conflicting priorities, including shared resources, release schedules. Providing executive reporting and managing / influencing stakeholders as part of key decision-making and alignment.
  • Stakeholder Management - building trusted relationships with stakeholders to ensure delivery aligns with business strategy.
  • Financial Management - bringing and "owners' mindset" to managing the programs' budget; monitoring expenditures and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the program progresses. Expertise in contract negotiation, is vital.
  • Delivery Standards - partnering with the Enterprise PMO to lead and drive improvements to delivery frameworks, ways of working and execution governance across BEN.
  • Risk Management - pro-actively identifying, monitoring and mitigating risks across programs and ensuring appropriate Management and Board transparency.
  • Delivery Leadership - growing and leading a delivery team and managing resources effectively to deliver outcomes.
  • People Leadership - leading a team of Program Managers, coaching, development and removing roadblocks.

About you

The ideal candidate will have equivalent experience in a similar senior capacity, exceptional leadership abilities are crucial, enabling the guidance and empowerment of teams to successfully deliver outcomes, overcoming obstacles.

  • Stakeholder Management - you are experienced at leading and influencing a range of business, technical and partner stakeholders to deliver value and change at speed. You always hold yourself and others accountable.
  • Governance and Planning - you know how to optimise the valuable investments made into the Business & Agri ecosystem for safe and on time delivery of benefits to customers, bankers, and the enterprise.
  • Vendor Management - you have a strong track record of managing multiple 3rd party vendors to deliver outcomes (in both time and materials and fixed price arrangements) and know what needs to be in place to ensure a productive and commercial relationship.
  • Banking - you have a deep understanding of the methods and points of value in delivering to a modern Business and Agri division and for commercial oriented banking customers.
  • Execution & Problem Solving - you make well-considered decisions, plan and deliver quality outcomes. You love to problem-solve and act with integrity. You have demonstrated capability in handling complex technology and trade-offs to achieve project and commercial goals.
  • Innovative & Transformative - you constructively challenge the status quo and offers alternatives. Seeking to improve ways of working and being open to new ideas and experiences comes naturally.
  • Resilient - you can work through challenges and work intensity, remaining focused on the customer and the bigger picture outcomes that will benefit BEN and its key stakeholders.
