About this role
We are seeking an experienced Program Manager within our People business unit who will play a crucial role in providing formal leadership in the successful planning, organising, design of solutions and delivery of specific non “business as usual” assigned program and all interdependent projects.
This is a full time 12 month fixed term opportunity based at our Perth Office.
The key focus of this position is to effectively lead dedicated team to deliver the Operational Excellence Program across the Business Unit. The People Business Unit exists to support Western Power to meet the people challenge necessary to deliver a sustainable energy future. The Operational Excellence Program is designing new ways of working to support our dedicated teams to meet this challenge.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Targeted outcomes that include but not restricted to, overall governance, the achievement of set out milestones and timeframes, financial performance including cost, budgets and benefits, and stakeholder expirations.
- Lead all assigned program resources (solid line reporting) in order to successfully deliver; program and initiative related issues, milestones, cross-initiative interdependencies, data quality, portfolio planning and to comply with and enforce appropriate program governance to achieve strategic business outcomes.
- Develop and manage overall program from inception to realisation program goals. This accountability will require the position to design and recommend program processes and standards, health indicators, set performance standards and monitor and report on the effectiveness of program activities.
- Drive the management cadence of monitoring and reporting to ensure execution of all projects through the timely management of delivery risks and issues, financial oversight, resource planning, accelerating progress where necessary to deliver strategic business objectives.
- Ensure effective communication, stakeholder management, organisational readiness and adequate management of change impacts to enable program objectives to be achieved without unnecessary or unacceptable business disruption.
- Provide direct formal leadership to both virtual, matrixed and project teams, often with competing priorities and workloads, to ensure effective delivery of the programs of work.
- Where required, work with other program owners and sponsors, Heads of Function, Executives and others to identify and solve conflicts and issues that arise within the program.
- Ensure that program activities operate in line with internal policies, frameworks and procedures
- Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards
- Build and maintain a constructive and consultative working environment through open communication and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in, Business Management, Project Management, Process Improvement, Organisational Design or related discipline.
- Significant broad knowledge and expertise in managing and delivering large scale, strategic Programs of work with Director/ Portfolio Management level experience in successful transformation projects delivery.
- Proactive, tenacious and strong influencing - skills to drive successful delivery of results and meet stakeholder expectations.
- Strong negotiation and relationship skills and the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation including C Suite.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills including demonstrated ability to consult, guide and influence decision makers using appropriate authority.
- Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills and exposure to risk management and governance processes.
- Demonstrated people resourcing and management skills, working within a matrix structure, and ability to engage and drive teams (including virtual teams) to produce outcomes which meet desired timeframes.
- Highly developed analytical skills required to be applied to complex organisational challenges and opportunities.
- Understanding of and ability to develop sound business cases to support major change initiatives, pitched at an Executive level.
