Hampton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to appoint two hard-working and motivated Program CoordinatorStudent Services to join our friendly and supportive team. The start date is the beginning of Term 4, 2024. It would be desirable for the successful applicants to have previous experience working in or leading Student Services staff or teams.

We are seeking two dedicated and passionate Program CoordinatorStudent Services Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be leading a team of enthusiastic year coordinators and student support staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. You will work closely with our Executive Team and be supported with a clear process for leadership development and professional learning.

You will also be championing and promoting our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) CORRE values within the school community. These values represent being Caring, Organised, Respectful, Resilient, and Engaged, and ensuring these values are at the heart of all we do is crucial. Another key responsibility will be guiding cohorts of students (to be determined at the completion of the application process) with a goal of following these year groups through to Year 12, providing consistent support and leadership throughout their journey.

The preferred candidate should have demonstrated ability to engage a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds, employing excellent engagement strategies to foster a positive learning environment. They should have a proven track record in making a significant difference in student performance, with the ability to lead staff in applying Classroom Management Skills (CMS), Instructional Strategies, and PBS. Proficiency in managing students with complex behaviours, showcasing patience, understanding, and innovative problem-solving skills is also required. A strong understanding of leading successful attendance processes is desirable. The candidate should also have skills that enhance student wellbeing and mental health, contributing to a holistic approach to student development.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
