The Role
The Program Manager will provide support to the Director Education and Enforcement in the delivery of a range of fisheries compliance projects and services within the Education and Enforcement Division of the Victorian Fisheries Authority.
Reporting to the Director Education & Enforcement, this position is responsible for the management of financial, procurement, governance and planning activities for the division. An important part of this role is to lead the management of major plant and equipment (boat, trailers and trucks) including procurement, maintenance and disposal. The role also leads a number of risk management and governance activities, including seized goods management, budget monitoring, delivery against action plans.
This position works in partnership with the Education and Enforcement Unit Management Team to ensure the division operates innovatively, efficiently and effectively.
The Team
The VFA is a statutory authority established to facilitate the effective management of Victoria's fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way that ensures their ongoing sustainability. The VFA functions to ensure that the Government, the recreational and commercial fishing sectors, and the Victorian community can share in and obtain the benefits from sustainable fisheries management.
The VFA has around 190 employees located in the Melbourne CBD, metropolitan Melbourne and across regional Victoria.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining constructive networks, influencing, representation, relationship management and negotiation
- Analyses issues from different perspectives and draws sound inferences from information available
- Prepares complex briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language
- Sound project management skills
- Demonstrated understanding of procurement and contract management in accordance with government and departmental policies and procedures
