Program Manager, the Centre for New Energy Technologies (“C4NET”)

C4NET delivers data-driven solutions for the challenges of our modern energy system. Built as a collaboration between the energy industry, universities and government, C4NET is a fully independent, not-for-profit company. C4NET brings players together to build the policies, new-energy solutions, workforce capabilities, and tools to support the sector’s transformation.
The Centre is commercially focused and industry-led. It unlocks access to energy data, growing the digitalisation of the energy sector to benefit industry and consumers demonstrating its potential to drive the sector’s development.
POSITION DESCRIPTION – Program Manager
C4NET seeks a highly motivated, competent and enthusiastic individual to assist the Centre’s operations, program of works and projects it supports. The individual will work closely with the CEO, Program Director and diverse stakeholders to ensure the Centre delivers value for its members, other key stakeholders and ultimately has a resounding positive impact in assisting the sector’s transition.
The Project Manager role is to provide:
- Management of the Centre’s research projects through to delivery to plan through good project management and administration
- Facilitation of the dissemination and promotion of knowledge, insights and lessons learnt from projects in a timely and relevant manner.
- General administration services to the Centre to assist with its day-to-day operations as a company limited by guarantee supported by industry, government and research partners
- Assist in Centre Management through administration and supporting stakeholder relationships to ensure efficient and effective delivery and stakeholder satisfaction
The role will assist with the day-to-day running of the Centre including general administration, marketing, events and stakeholder support. Any assistance provided with the Centre’s communication initiatives such as social media and web updates would be viewed favourably.
What you will do:
The Program Manager will provide sound management of the Centre’s participation in a range of diverse programs to deliver our objectives. The Program Manager’s responsibilities are to:
- Manage research agreements across stakeholders and project participants to ensure effective project delivery. This includes financial management, contractual management, and communications and promotional activities.
- Maintain and improve supporting project management infrastructure (systems, processes and resources) to manage a portfolio of projects from end-to-end.
- Engage project stakeholders and effectively communicate with them to ensure their needs are met to achieve project goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment and working relationship between project participants.
- Understand key hurdles facing the energy sector, the changing dynamics in the sector, and how they relate to delivery of C4NET’s key objectives.
- Promote and advocate the Centre, our members and our projects
Tasks include:
- Successfully manage a portfolio of active projects to budget, scope and timelines.
- Ensure proper project reporting, progress tracking and performance (financial, time and other resources).
- Conduct regular project meetings to ensure collaboration with project partners to manage and agree remedial actions for any project risks.
- Recommend to the relevant delegated authority as to the treatment of project participant’s issues, hurdles and opportunities
- Participate in leadership and strategic discussions to improve our efficiency and efficacy to our members.
- Facilitate data requests for the Centre’s research projects.
- Support the translation of project outcomes to broader audience.
Successful applicants will be:
- Experienced in project management and/or the development and delivery of research projects, ideally related to the energy sector projects.
- Process and detail oriented
- Passionate about the challenges facing the energy sector.
- Able to instil process-oriented project management techniques and advocate for change, data-use, collaboration, research, risk management and sound policy formation.
- Flexible, able to operate nimbly in a rapidly changing environment and manage stakeholders through uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Able to communicate with influence across senior levels of industry, government and the research community.
- Able to chair project meetings and communicate clearly to project stakeholders.
- Have strong written skills, hence able to translate project outcomes into a language that in understandable by a broader audience.
- Effectively build and sustain stakeholder internal and external relationships.
- Self-motivated and continually seeking to raise the bar, multi-task, happy to work in a small entity in an open office environment.
