As an Environmental Officer with the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) you will be responsible for the delivery of environmental and open space landscape projects and programs for clients, with a focus on landscape management, control methods, site management and maintenance.
A combination of both office and fieldwork, and as part of a small but passionate team, your responsibilities will include:
- Management of SCS field staff
- Contractor management including management of non-compliance – WHS, Environmental and Quality
- Undertaking procurement for on ground works
- Detailed tracking of project progress, budgets and planning of new and ad-hoc works
- Data management and record keeping for projects, including scheduling and reporting
- Preparation and revision of contracts and tender documentation
- Liaison and engagement with stakeholders from all levels of government and including both public and private sector commercial clients.
About you:
Ideally, we are seeking someone who is experienced in environmental, horticulture or landscape trade and has proven experience managing a large scale Landscape Maintenance program
To be successful you’ll need:
- In-depth knowledge of plants, grasses, and weeds, including their growth habits and seasonal variations, within Environmental, Horticulture, and Landscape trade domains.
- Proficiency in Landscape management control methods, encompassing mowing (push, ride-on, and tractor slashing), brushcutting, weed management, and plant identification.
- Ability to manage of a portfolio of approximately 450 mowing sites, involving scheduling works and overseeing multiple contractors.
- Capability to thrive in an office-based environment with flexible working arrangements.
- A current NSW driver licence combined with the willingness and ability to travel across NSW (including overnight stays).
