The Business Support Services Unit are looking to expand our Infrastructure Finance team. We are seeking someone with skills and experience in financial processing and general finance. We are now accepting applications from persons with these skills/interests to join us on a temporary, full-time basis within the role of AO4 Program Support Officer.
Although not mandatory a relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce or Accounting, or equivalent, would be highly regarded. This role is offered until 30 June 2027, unless otherwise determined.

About the Opportunity
As a part of the team you will be required to advise and add value to the administration of infrastructure functions and activities from a financial and budget management perspective, as well as contribute to a variety of other finance projects and functions across the business in order to deliver timely, accurate and high-quality solutions and outcomes for clients. You will also continue to build the service capability and credibility of the Infrastructure Finance team.
About the Role
The Program Support Officer will have responsibility for the following:
- Prepare purchase orders in SAP and provide purchasing advice in accordance with Department or State Purchasing Policy and Procedures to internal customers.
- Process invoices for payment in accordance with internal controls and Departmental financial policy and procedure.
- Prepare documents, settlement rules and journals to settle project costs to financial assets in line with Departmental financial and asset accounting policy and procedures.
- Assist with the processing of the weekly Capital Works in Progress (CWIP) report and the various tasks linked to that report.
- Assist in the preparation and settlement of various grant payments to schools.
- Assist in the preparation of financial information, for reports, briefing materials, correspondence and branch specific support documents and templates.
- Investigate, provide financial information, and advice on infrastructure, planning and asset management issues, projects and programs to colleagues, team leaders, internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other teams across the Division to provide holistic Support Services and promote effective use of departmental facilities and resources delivered within budget and to expected departmental service standards.
The ideal applicant will possess the following knowledge, skills, experience and personal attributes:
- Experience in financial processing in a corporate environment for example purchase order creation and editing, goods receipting and invoice processing.
- Contemporary accounting experience including the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant legislation and directives, best practice and ability to quickly interpret relevant policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and skills in creating and reviewing budget forecasts, reports and accruals to ensure budgets are credible and useful in achieving infrastructure outcomes.
- Ability to cultivate productive working relationships at all levels of the organisation, including good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Excel skills and experience in corporate accounting software (e.g. SAP).
- Ability to assist other team members and respect diverse perspectives.
- Dedication to customer service and continuous business improvement.
