About the Role

As a Program Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality administrative support for research infrastructure grant funding and proposal development. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting funding schemes such as the Australian Research Council’s Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities scheme,  and other funding opportunities. 

Your guidance and support will not only facilitate the development of compelling funding proposals for research infrastructure but also contribute to post-award activities. Working collaboratively across RIC teams, you will ensure seamless delivery of projects, ultimately advancing our research endeavours.  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Provide strategic, project management and administrative support to the Research Infrastructure team  
  • Provide high quality administrative support to committees by organising meetings, recording minutes and actioning agenda items 
  • Coordinate and deliver small scale projects related to matters of research infrastructure and service development  
  • Interpret and apply complex policies and assess the consequences for researchers of various courses of actions. 

Who we are looking for 
We’re seeking an individual who is highly motivated, passionate, and eager to delve into the world of research infrastructure. In addition, you'll possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with colleagues regarding research policies, prepare correspondence, reports, and briefing notes. Strong organisational skills, time management abilities, and a keen eye for detail are also essential qualities required to thrive in this role. 

You will also have: 

  • Experience in providing support to the development of grant funding proposals  
  • Experience in providing project and administration support in a tertiary institution, research institute or similar, including support to senior management and committees. 
  • Developing knowledge of the research and research infrastructure environment or awareness of policies and practices associated with the successful operation of research infrastructure facilities 
  • Experience in a research laboratory setting

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is the central facilitator of research funding in the University, taking advantage of the full diversity of research funding opportunities.  

The Research Infrastructure team, located within RIC provides strategic and operational support to the research infrastructure ecosystem across the University including operational and development support for research infrastructure platforms, research data management support and support to strategically important, high value funding and commercial development opportunities across the University, to deliver high quality research outcomes for the University – this is done in close partnership with Chancellery (Research and Enterprise).
