Our client, in the Higher Education industry, is looking for a Project Accountant - Practice Lead to join their team on a permanent basis, in Melbourne. You will contribute to the development of an organisational approach to the financial management of projects and portfolios by delivering robust project reporting and accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a large portfolio/ programs of work, ensuring efficient financial management throughout their lifecycle.
- Develop and refine practices for improved project initiation, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting actuals.
- Collaborate with finance operations teams to manage CWIP (Capital Work in Progress) and facilitate fixed asset register transfers.
- Lead the enhancement and optimization of processes related to financial management across projects.
- Drive the establishment and maintenance of comprehensive financial controls within the project portfolio.
- Provide guidance and support to project managers and stakeholders on financial matters.
Key Skills Required:
- Proven experience in managing team of finance analysts, Project Accountants and/or capital analysts for large-scale portfolios of programs and projects.
- Expertise in developing and implementing financial practices from project initiation to completion.
- Proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting actuals in alignment with project requirements.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with finance operations teams.
- Knowledge of CWIP management and transferring to fixed asset registers.
- Ability to establish and refine financial controls within a project environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is advantageous.
