Project Engineer (Electrical & Renewable Energy)

Are you an experienced PV and BESS Designer with a passion for Renewable Energy and a commitment to sustainability? As our company is expanding its operations to WA to meet the increasing demand for innovative grid-scale solar and battery energy storage systems, we are seeking a talented individual to join our dynamic team in our office in Perth.

Responsibilities: 

• Supervision and management of installation planning, commissioning and maintenance for containerized NAS battery systems. 
• Full electrical design including cable current carrying capacities, equipment arc flash calculations and single-line diagrams of switchboards, substations, power conversion systems and Renewable Energy systems deployed on-grid, off-grid or as hybrid micro-grids with and without battery energy storage (BESS). This includes the preparation of all calculations, drawings, single-line diagrams, documents and procedures required for grid applications, network operators and customers for commercial & industrial (C&I)-Scale, Utility-Scale and Large-Scale PV plants. 
• Optimising designs of solar PV, BESS and other generating equipment to minimise project costs and maximise customer benefits in line and consideration of customer requirements, site limitations and grid operator requirements. 
• Using, improving and developing software tools, methods and algorithms to achieve the above. 
• Highlighting opportunities for improvement of processes, products and work processes and develop new concepts and ideas within or outside the field of renewable energies. 
• Identifying and developing commercial solar PV and BESS business opportunities and potentially new fields of business for Allset Energy. 
• Execute mechanical design using various racking systems to suit roof profiles and structures
• Design cable management systems and inverter stations
• Produce mechanical and electrical drawings using CAD
• Generate Bill of Materials
• Communicate effectively with project management teams, electricians, and external engineering consultants
• Conduct site-surveys to verify electrical infrastructure and installation plans

Requirements:

• Technical Direction Advisory (TDA) Certification from NGK for containerized BASF NAS battery systems. 
• CEC Grid Connected PV Design and Battery design accreditation
• Minimum 2 years of experience in large C&I solar design and installations
• Electrical Engineering, PV Plant Engineering or related Renewable Energy qualification 
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVSyst 
• Solid understanding of PV System components, engineering, and operations
• Knowledge of DNSPs grid protection requirements and electrical specifications
• Familiarity with AS3000, AS3008, AS4777, AS5033, CEC guidelines, and other relevant standards and frameworks
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
• Willingness to travel. Regional and interstate travel to installation sites required 
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Passionate about Renewable Energy and the environment
