Job description

About the business

Bright Engineering Consultants, a leading nationwide multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, specializes in innovative solutions for clean manufacturing industries. Our expertise spans various sectors, including food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, biologics, and cosmetics.

At Bright, we're dedicated to blending advanced engineering theory with hands-on expertise, ensuring the delivery of exceptional engineering solutions. Our commitment to excellence positions us as a vital contributor to high-quality, cutting-edge, modern engineering installations. Through on-site engagement and a robust toolkit, we bring our clients' visions to life with practical precision.

Bright Engineering Consultants boasts a nationwide presence in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.

About the role

We're looking for a Project Engineer to regularly work alongside clients, managing capital installation works and process improvement projects from start to finish. Reporting to the Victorian Operations Manager, you will apply your knowledge and experience to drive projects.

This role is part of a dynamic team, and you'll see a balance between engineering design and project management.  The split will be determined based on current project and overall team skills, but will be weighted to suit your experience and career goals.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Model integrity, accountability and respect
  • Complete projects from start to finish, with oversight and assistance from senior engineers or your manager where required.  Define, track and report on time, cost and quality.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, knowledge and judgement.
  • Complete design work using relevant regulations, codes of practice, Australian and International standards, as well as internal documentation and templates.
  • Use a structured, logical approach to both project management and design, including the accurate filing of information.
  • Provide clear direction to drafters and site contractors, and clear reporting to clients.
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of internal systems and processes.
  • Develop strong, collaborative and productive relationships within the team, with clients and suppliers and throughout industry
  • Demonstrate a 'can do' attitude, with a focus on client satisfaction.

Benefits and perks

Working for food & beverage and pharmaceuticals & cosmetics clients has a range of benefits!  The work is real, present and easily relatable, and it's a great feeling contributing to the manufacture of some of your favorite products!

Our team is energetic, flexible and dynamic.  We pride ourselves on continued growth both in business and personally, whilst ensuring we have a bit of fun amongst the team.

We invest in professional grade tools and equipment, and provide formal development opportunities every year.  Our staff benefit from our industry associations, and we're regulars at a range of events through The Institute of Brewing and Distilling, Dairy Industry Association of Australia, and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering.

We have a bit of fun at the office too.  We always have a couple of in-house tech or process projects on the go, and at the moment this includes a FarmBot and a brewery!

Our senior staff are industry experts and will offer valuable guidance. We also encourage networking and travel opportunities for our staff.

Skills and experience

You should be a hands-on engineer with recent, relevant industry experience and good networks

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years out of university working in a related field.
  • Recognised Engineering degree, with CPEng and RPEQ highly desirable.  (Mechanical, Mechatronic, Pharmaceutical preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations and Australian standards and their interactions.
  • At least 3 years in either an engineering, or production role in food & beverage or pharmaceuticals & cosmetics.
  • Some project management experience desirable.
  • Ability to manage your own work to time and budget, and to delegate and manage others.
  • Demonstrate practical experience, strong ethics, and hands-on involvement.
  • Team player with ability to encourage and build up other staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, for everyday communications and formal documentation
  • AutoCAD & MS Project skills well regarded
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, living in South Australia (or prepared to relocate), with the right to work in Australia.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Critical thinker.
  • Enthusiasm.
  • Problem-solving.
  • Adaptability.
