As a Project Engineer, you will support the development team in progressing various utility-scale PV, BESS and hybrid projects. The role is broad and will cover early to late-stage projects, from a planning, engineering and grid connection perspective.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with the development and engineering team to understand the specific grid connection and planning requirements for new sites
- Develop skills at using utilising publicly available data sources and collaborate with Hanwha’s project partners
- Work with the commercial team to develop up suitable CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates related to the project development
- Support the submission of connection enquiries, preliminary enquiries and support early discussions with NSP’s
- Develop concept electrical engineering designs (SLD and general arrangements) and understand spatial requirements for equipment and substation locations
- Support the development of RFQ’s and facilitate the engagement of consultants to support the development process
- Facilitate the preparation of grid connection and planning studies by consultants
- Participate in the negotiation of technical requirements with relevant NSP’s, councils and regulatory bodies, and use your technical knowledge to ensure a reasonable solution is found to any technical problems
- Collaborate with key OEM(s) on developing technical solutions best suited for the respective project, with consideration of portfolio wide implications
- Provide input to the development team with regards to key technical, commercial or timeline risk that projects may face
- Keep abreast of new developments in the regulatory and technology environments to ensure all opportunities and future challenges are considered by the development team
- Suggest process improvements, included but not limited to technologies and platforms that can be developed in-house to create a more effective process
- Provide routine reporting as scheduled and ad-hoc as required.
- Tertiary Electrical Engineering qualifications or similar disciplines
- Experience in solar PV and/or battery energy storage systems
- Familiarity with NEM grid connection requirements including the National Electricity Rules and relevant AEMO / NSP requirements
- Familiarity with DA and planning requirements
- Familiarity with power system modelling software including PSSe and PSCAD
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
- Knowledge of products, systems, and market sectors within industry
