Position Overview
As a Project Engineer, you will be a key player in managing the execution of major project elements, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives. You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with all project stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Project Management and Coordination:
- Develop and implement production schedules, resource allocation plans, and cost management strategies to meet project goals.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
- Monitor project progress using tools like MS Project, update schedules, and proactively manage risks to ensure timely delivery.
Requirements Management:
- Document and verify technical and quality requirements through detailed plans and procedures.
- Develop and implement testing plans to ensure all project components meet specified standards.
- Clearly communicate requirements to project teams, including suppliers and subcontractors.
Subcontract Management:
- Manage subcontract work packages for fabrication, machining, and other manufacturing services.
- Develop RFIs and RFQs, analyse responses, and select the best subcontractors for the job.
- Work closely with subcontractors through various project phases, ensuring they meet our high standards for cost, quality, and delivery.
Change Management:
- Assess and manage change requests, ensuring they are implemented systematically.
- Update project documentation and communicate changes to all stakeholders.
- Utilise change management processes to drive continuous improvement in project performance.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Manufacturing and Production Know-How: Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical Engineering Expertise: Strong background in mechanical engineering with the ability to identify, document and verify technical requirements.
- Excellent Communication and Coordination Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders.
- Project Delivery Experience: Experience delivering projects to the demanding requirements of Prime Contractors and OEMs
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
- Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control processes.
- Understanding of defence industry standards and regulations.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Experience with CAD and ERP systems
