Job description

Who we are

The MJD Foundation supports Aboriginal families living with Machado Joseph Disease to live fulfilling and rewarding lives. We are a charity that works in partnership with Aboriginal Australians, their families and communities living with Machado-Joseph disease to provide comprehensive supports, engage in research, education and provide hope for the future. We are currently recruiting for a fulltime position in which it will be your main responsibility to provide administrative supports for a variety of projects across the organisation and to provide IT support.

The Position

You will never be bored in this role at the MJD Foundation!

The Project & IT Support Officer is a member of our Shared Supports team and will assist across the organisation (and externally) to plan and manage various projects, and provide IT and administrative support. This is a very diverse role, as you will be supporting a range of people and projects. We are looking for someone who is well organised and knows how to work with deadlines. If you are self-driven, creative and enjoy taking initiative we would love to hear from you. The types of projects this role might engage in include, but are not limited to, major events (conferences and camps), capital works and software implementation.

It is important that you demonstrate that you are self-motivated, that you enjoy bringing people together and that you will take key tasks through to completion. You take ownership and are aware of what is needed to ensure the projects you assist with are moving forward. You have strong interpersonal skills and are very organised. Your communication skills and IT skills are very strong and you are able to work towards deadlines while supporting others to work towards them too.

Selection Criteria:

SCHADS Award level 3:

  1. Qualifications (or extensive demonstrated experience) in project management with at least three years of practical experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
  2. Exceptional time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise workload, create and maintain workplans and meet deadlines.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, develop budgets and monitor financial and project progress.
  4. Demonstrated experience building and maintaining strong collaborative partnerships with a diverse range of people and organisations.
  5. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, build relationships and drive projects.
  6. Strong IT skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite, with ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
  7. Demonstrated ability to respond to constructive feedback, adapt practices and work collaboratively with others.
  8. Strong record keeping skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, resourcefulness and a positive attitude.
  9. Experience understanding budgets/financial reports.
  10. A commitment to person and family centred practice and working within the MJD Foundation ‘Our Way’ approach.

Additional selection criteria at SCHADS Award level 4:

  1. Completion of a relevant degree with at least four years of subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
  2. Proven ability in project management: coordinating, organising, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  3. Proven understanding of data and information management and the ability to advise on strategy derived from gathered information.

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience working in health and/or disability.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective.

 What we offer:

  • A supportive and inclusive work environment with opportunity to learn;
  • Above award level pay rate for the right person;
  • Tax free fringe benefit up to $15,900 p.a, plus meal entertainment benefit up to $2650 per annum;
