The Role

The position provides management and supervision of construction projects from beginning to end, ensuring that projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. A solid understanding of the construction sector and relevant legislation as well as the ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment are critical for career

success. The Project Manager must be hands on and technical, well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures, and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organisational skills.

Main Duties

• Plan all construction operations and scheduling intermediate phases to ensure deadlines are met.

• Lead project planning sessions.

• Coordinate with architects and engineers to ensure design feasibility and compliance with codes and standards.

• Negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors, and other workers.

• Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities.

• Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to the budget.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures.

• Obtain permits and licences from appropriate authorities.

• Ensure supervisors efficiently manage manpower and resources.

• Monitor progress and ensure that construction activities are on track to meet deadlines.

• Address delays and implement strategies to mitigate schedule risks.

• Establish and enforce quality control and quality assurance processes.

• Conduct inspections to ensure that work meets quality standards and specifications.

• Implement corrective actions when necessary.

• Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

• Review and approve payment requests and change orders.

• Address safety incidents promptly and appropriately.

• Provide regular progress reports and updates to all relevant parties.

• Document project activities, issues, and resolutions.

• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans.

• Support the tendering team with the construction methodology and productivity.

• Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and permits.

• Organise and archive project records for future reference.

Qualifications and Experience

• Strong technical knowledge in transmission line projects, 5 years of experience preferred.

• Excellent project management skills.

• Relevant professional certifications.

• Knowledge of construction project management software and tools.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

• Familiarity with construction regulations and safety standards.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• Commercial acumen.

• Proven track record in managing people and client relationships.

• Ability to analyse data and recognise trends.

• Proactive with new ideas for efficiencies, improvements.

• Valid Australian work rights.

• Valid White Card.

• Valid Driving Licence.
