Job Description - Project Manager (Civil Construction)
Are you a seasoned leader with a passion for driving successful construction projects from inception to completion? We're seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join our team and take charge of our civil construction projects.
As a Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient execution of projects while upholding the highest standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations. Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Resource Management: Oversee the procurement of materials, equipment and labour, necessary for project implementation. Manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to project specifications.
- Budget Oversight: Monitor project expenditures and maintain financial control throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare accurate cost estimates, forecasts, and reports to ensure projects remain within budgetary constraints.
- Scheduling and Progress Monitoring: Create and maintain project schedules, identifying critical milestones and dependencies. Monitor progress against established timelines and implement adjustments as needed to keep projects on track.
- Quality Assurance: Enforce quality control measures to ensure that work meets or exceeds industry standards and client expectations. Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively. Proactively address issues related to safety, environmental impact, regulatory compliance, and other project-related risks.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for communication with clients, stakeholders, and project team members. Provide regular updates on project progress, address concerns, and facilitate effective collaboration.
- Contract Administration: Manage project contracts, including negotiation, review, and enforcement of terms and conditions. Resolve disputes and ensure that all parties fulfill their contractual obligations.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment for all project personnel. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, including records of activities, expenses, and correspondence. Prepare comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies as required.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications required:
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Knowledge of construction industry regulations, codes, and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills - the ability to direct, motivate and lead
- Ability to coordinate the project in its entirety
- Ability to direct, motivate and lead while creating constructive relationships
- Leading a team & project delivery to the above project value or comparable
- Planning project deliverables and construction methodologies
- Ability to coordinate the project in its entirety
- Forecast and budget review to project actuals
- Management of project reporting to client specifications
- Management of RDH systems to confirm with our IMS
- 5 years minimum civil project management/budgeting experience
- 3 years minimum demonstrated experience in civil construction
- Ideally possess tertiary qualifications - including project management and/or civil engineering degree.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SWMS
- Knowledge of Main Roads (MRWA) specifications & standards
- Demonstrated understanding of specifications & ability to derive ITPs from spec.
- Motivated and enthusiastic work ethic with a high degree of integrity
- Strong teamwork focus
