About the Job
The Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) vision is to be recognised as a leader in providing world-class public transport services and solutions. As a fast growing economy, Western Australia’s public transport system is recognised as the best in Australia and is one of the most efficient, clean and safe networks in the world. Rail transport is vital for our continued success and growth through our many projects including METRONET to meet the public’s needs and expectations. Moving millions of people needs the skill and commitment of a talented workforce.
You will be working in the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery (OMTID), the Division responsible for delivering high value and high complex major transport projects.
The Role
A unique opportunity has opened in the position of Project Manager – Innovation at OMTID. In this newly created position you will investigate, coordinate and implement innovative engineering initiatives on major rail and road infrastructure projects. Working within the Sustainability Team, you will interface with internal and external technical stakeholders to keep abreast of emerging technology, evaluate their feasibility, and drive their implementation.
The primary focus of this role will be on resource efficiency – helping our projects use less materials, use recycled alternatives and/or use low carbon materials. You will also help us drive energy and water efficiency, and implement other sustainability initiatives as identified.
The role will provide you with the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of available innovative materials through research and collaboration with suppliers and industry. You will coordinate external specialist consultants to assist our internal technical leads and project teams in developing specifications and contractual requirements.
The role will work with project delivery contractors and designers to facilitate implementation. You’ll be monitoring installation and ongoing performance, providing feedback and developing best practise guidelines and documentation.
About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to join our growing Sustainability team and become involved in an exciting and rapidly evolving discipline.
Our team draws from a variety of backgrounds. For this role, we are looking for someone from a technical background with a sound understanding of infrastructure project delivery. Engaging with stakeholders and developing partnerships will be key, so it will suit someone who enjoys collaborating with others. This is a fantastic opportunity to implement your creative ideas and make the role your own, and it will therefore suit someone with a demonstrated history of taking initiative and working autonomously.
This is a fixed term appointment up to 30 June 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency.
The PTA is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur for up to 12 months.
