About the position
The Project Manager, Maintenance is responsible for coordinating the formation, design and delivery of Maintenance Projects (end of life replacements, backlog liability, engineering infrastructure) across all campuses in line with the University strategic asset management plan.
The role will be required to work both autonomously and in collaboration with senior management and University stakeholders on the planning, development and management of University assets to meet and support the changing needs of the University’s core activities.
This role will actively participate in driving outcomes with a focus on customer service, speed of delivery, legislative compliance, and fit for purpose solutions. As this position coordinates a team of contractors who work on campus, it is anticipated that the role will be based on campus at least nine days per fortnight, or as required.
Skills and Experience
To be considered for this position, you will have
- A degree, extensive management expertise and supporting experience, or postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain sound working relationships internally and externally and to communicate effectively on a range of sensitive and complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a complex organisational environment and balance a range of priorities and expectations.
- Proven record of developing innovative solutions and practical implementations for strategic change.
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to negotiate, motivate, influence and build relationships.
- Demonstrated experience managing and controlling budgets/resources/funding and an understanding of financial management procedures.
- Proven experience and success in managing staff performance and development.
- A solid track record of successfully delivering capital projects, including projects within a maintenance and infrastructure environment.
- Working knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to classify risk associated with larger projects and document control measures.
- Demonstrated ability to collate and assess contractual documentation including scope, preliminaries, construction management plans and payment schedules.
- Current Engineers Australia membership
- Current Victorian driver’s license (car)
