Summary
We seek a Technical Project Manager with extensive plant/mine design and maintenance experience in the mining OR oil/gas industry. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams on projects for top Australian minerals and metals producers, requiring frequent travel and occasional fly-in-fly-out periods. The ideal candidate will have exceptional project management skills, a deep understanding of the mining industry, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Essential
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or another relevant discipline. Mechanical/Electrical exposure will be beneficial.
- 10-20 years experience in cross-functional leadership roles in a plant operations/ Projects environment.
- Experience in managing multi-discipline projects (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Automation & Maintenance practices with safety).
- Experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and other project-related activities, interfaces, and interdependencies.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
Practical experience and knowledge concerning plant engineering with installation and commissioning of large diameter ROM SAG Mills, ball mills, Flotation tanks, Filters, primary and secondary crushing, vibratory feeders, conveyors, thickeners, tailings disposal, civil, structural, electrical, (HT and LT) and instrumentation is a requirement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience in preparing orders of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility & Feasibility studies on the project requests from Site Engineers.
- Reviewing existing designs and preparing Concept ideas with cost & timelines of the project.
- Review on Electrical substations, Transmission details, and changes to PLC & MCC panels.
- Develop and obtain sign-off from the contractors on the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Requirement Specification.
- Work with counterparts from manufacturing, aftermarket, sales, and purchasing to ensure that projects are properly coordinated.
- Ensures governance on the project, procedures, and policies. Authorizes all commitments of expenditure on the project (subject to agreed delegation) and approves payment of invoices, manages claims responses and settlement processes.
- Develops a detailed scope, cost, and schedule control baseline and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed control baseline.
