The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is committed to promoting biodiversity and conservation to enrich people’s lives, through sustainable management of Western Australia’s species, ecosystems, lands and the attractions in the department’s care.

THIS IS A 24-MONTH FIXED-TERM, FULL-TIME POSITION

Job Description

Under the limited direction of the District Parks and Visitor Services Coordinator:

  • Coordinates works associated with the planning and implementation of all recreational and Capital Works infrastructure development projects in the Exmouth District.
  • Prepares and coordinates the procurement process and the administration and management of contracts. Liaises with designers, architects, engineers and other technical professions to facilitate projects.
  • Liaises with Aboriginal and other community groups, stakeholders, government agencies, consultants and contractors engaged to provide services and goods to facilitate project works.
  • Oversees the financial and administration of projects in the Exmouth District Capital Investment program.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total.

  1. Considerable experience in site and facility planning and infrastructure development, preferably with experience in visitor management in protected areas.
  2. Demonstrated well developed experience in preparing project plans and documentation and coordinating approvals to meet statutory and quality requirements.
  3. Considerable experience in project and contract management including managing the implementation of works, site supervision and management, supervising contractors and staff and troubleshooting projects.
  4. Demonstrated experience in procurement processes including preparation of tender documentation, evaluating tenders, contract management and administration, contractor negotiation and completion, time management and financial management.
  5. Evidence of high-level oral communication and interpersonal skills and experience in effectively liaising and negotiating with external organisations including Aboriginal groups, local and State government, consultants, contractors and stakeholders.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
