We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Officer with experience in environmental management and/or regulation to support the Ord project team, and other projects where required, to deliver sustainable development in support of Government and Departmental objectives.Set in a unique and picturesque landscape, you will operate out of Kununurra as part of an enthusiastic Northern Agricultural Development team. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the economic development of the region whilst protecting the natural environment and cultural values of the community.A qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline is required, preferably at tertiary level. This position could be filled on either a full-time or part-time basis (
0.6FTE). The preferred location for this position is Kununurra, although candidates from Perth and Broome may be considered, in line with the department's flexible working arrangement policy. Candidates should express any preferences for flexible working arrangements upfront.There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.This opportunity focuses on environmental deliverables within the Ord River Irrigation Area (ORIA). Responsibilities include environmental monitoring, compliance assessment, review and preparation of plans and reports, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations. Candidates with experience in project management, particularly with an environmental emphasis, are preferred for this position. The position also involves coordinating with relevant project teams, committees, and working parties.The ideal candidate will have significant knowledge and experience in environmental regulation and approvals (State and Federal), monitoring, management and/or compliance reporting. Knowledge of agricultural/horticultural production processes would be highly regarded but not essential. The ability to effectively engage with regional stakeholders and collaborate with other areas of the Department and across Government is required.The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, work well in a team environment, and have a desire to live and work in the Kimberley region.
