  • Employment Type: Part Time (21 hours week)
  • Duration: Initial 12 months (to February 2025) with possibility of extension
  • Remuneration: $96,960 + 17% super and leave loading (pro rata)

The Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) is a premier research institution at UNSW Sydney, investigating brain ageing. CHeBA was established in October 2012 and headed by internationally acclaimed leaders in the field, Professor Henry Brodaty and Professor Perminder Sachdev.
About the role
As the Project Officer, you will play a key role within CHeBA in providing practical and efficient project support for the Cohort Studies of Memory in an International Consortium (COSMIC). The role is supported by a 5 year NIH grant for the COSMIC consortium. Read more information about COSMIC .
The role entails providing project coordination and support, reporting and analytical support, developing communications, building key internal and external relationships, and providing administrative support for key programs and projects.
The role reports to and provides support to the COSMIC Coordinator, and has no direct reports.
Specific responsibilities for this role include:
  • Support the delivery of CHeBA's COSMIC project and initiatives to achieve operational and strategic goals.
  • Support the development of COSMIC's plans and schedules and participate in planning processes as required.
  • Monitor, track and report on the status of project deliverables to ensure time, cost and quality metrics are in line with approved project plans for assigned projects.
  • Provide practical and proactive project support and administrative services to project team and stakeholders.
  • Assess and monitor project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Coordinate COSMIC administration including coordination of workshops and meetings, minute taking, manage assigned actions and follow-ups and project status reporting.
  • Develop and manage effective communications with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the project.
  • Support adherence to UNSW governance pathways to ensure projects are managed within a defined, consistent and proven set of rules for project development.
  • Assist in the recruitment of new cohorts in COSMIC.
  • Maintain documentation of cohorts within COSMIC and on the website.
  • Assist with data agreements, ethics and grant applications.
About the successful applicant
(Selection Criteria)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Project experience, with an understanding of the project life cycle and development of project plans, objectives and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
