About This Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Officer–Events based within the Student Futures team, Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. The primary purpose of this position is to support the delivery of projects that help coursework students in HASS build connections and enhance employability through collaborative partnerships. Working as part of the HASS Student Futures team, the position will develop and implement student-facing events and initiatives that enhance future opportunities for HASS students, with a particular focus on:
Facilitating opportunities to build a sense of belonging and support;
Creating more opportunities to enhance employability within and outside the curriculum; and
Working in partnership with students, student clubs and societies, staff, alumni and industry partners.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Event management and promotion
Manage employability, community and engagement events for students, including liaison with internal and external stakeholders, service providers and event delegates.
Develop and implement strategies that increase the number participants at events.
Develop multimedia content, create social media campaigns, update webpages and contribute to other outreach channels to raise student awareness about employability, wellbeing and other relevant topics.
Work in partnership with relevant stakeholders to ensure Student Futures programs and activities are well communicated across all mediums.
Project support and administration
Provide support to staff in implementing student employability and community programs in partnership with students, staff and industry. Program may include orientation, networking nights, and online career events. Programs will be offered both on campus and online.
Contribute to evaluation and reporting of program outcomes, including providing input into the development of future projects.
Develop systems to support efficient operation, management, quality improvement and impact assessment of activities and programs.
Attend programs and/or functions outside normal business hours as required.
Supervise casual Student Ambassadors as required.
This is a full-time, fixed term position for a leave replacement until 4 October 2024.
At HEW level 5, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $77,396 - $86,029, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $90,553 - $100,654 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
We are looking for an agile and adaptable Project Officer, with strong coordination and time management skills combined with excellent communication, attention to detail and the ability to deliver outcomes in a high-pressure, time-critical environment. Knowledge of UQ systems and processes (or ability to quickly learn new systems) would be highly advantageous.
Qualifications and training equivalent to an undergraduate degree; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated experience in event management for a wide range of stakeholders including planning, administration, and budgeting.
Demonstrated experience in digital marketing or communication to increase event attendance and achieve project objectives.
Demonstrated passion and interest in collaborating with and supporting university students.
Strong organisational and planning skills, with proven capacity and dedication to work on multiple projects simultaneously with varying timelines.
Demonstrated capacity to work in a team environment and in a culturally sensitive manner with people from a variety of professional and cultural backgrounds.
