About the role:
Bethany is excited to advertise for the role of Project Officer, based at Bethany Men’s Family Violence Intervention Centre, South Geelong.
This position is part time (0.4 FTE), fixed term until June 30 2023, and will be reporting to the Manager, Family Violence. The core purpose of this role is to establish and work with a panel who have lived experience of prison, to run a series of workshops for service providers from key sectors including mental health, AOD, family violence, and housing. This will involve workshop presentations for staff and managers from agencies such as Bethany, Barwon Health, and a range of AOD and Mental Health services. The objective is to build capacity of these services to respond effectively to the support needs of justice-involved people.
Key responsibilities:
- High level of knowledge about the impact of justice involvement, support needs, and effective ways to engage and support justice involved people.
- Experience working with/providing support to justice-involved people.
- Ability to engage and build capacity of people with lived experience of prison to participate in the project.
- Public speaking – presenting to groups of 10-20 service providers.
- Organising workshops.
- Engaging range of service providers in the Geelong area to attend workshops.
- Preparing written materials about the support needs of justice involved people.
About you:
- A tertiary qualification in human services, research, business management, or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in several sectors that include: disability, homelessness, alcohol and other drug, mental health, or family violence.
- In-depth understanding of working with people from highly disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly people with a lived experience of prison.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills appropriate for a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proven ability to organise and plan, and to meet rigid and conflicting demands and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities.
