About your new role:
Menzies is looking for a Project Officer to join the Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre and Menzies laboratory. The Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre strives to deliver training and engagement activities focused on building the biomedical workforce in regional and remote Australia.
This role will involve the delivery of project related duties and laboratory skills training program that has been developed by the Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre at defined periods to Northern Territory youth at the Menzies Darwin campus.
The Project Officer will work with and support other researchers. Laboratory tasks may include media preparation (helping to make broths, agar plates), field work to collect environmental samples, collection of clinical specimens, processing of specimens, testing of other study procedures according to the Study Protocols and Menzies Standard Operating Procedures.
Some key features of the duties involve:
Support day-to-day research project management and coordination as a member of a multi-institutional research team, including communication with research working group members, in order to support health and education programs in communities and schools, and by providing recommendations to innovate and improve systems, processes, and activities.
Support the maintenance of strong links with partnering organisations, ie communities, participants and schools, in order to plan and deliver workshops.
Contribute to and undertake the design of lab training resources to be delivered to students.
Support delivery of the laboratory skills training program to high school and undergraduate trainees and students.
Provide technical support for the staff and students working on various laboratory projects from various Menzies Divisions, providing feedback on best practice and improvement strategies

About you:
You will already have highly developed communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences including a multidisciplinary team as well as demonstrated experience with data management. You also possess these other qualities:
Completion of a degree without work experience; or other formal qualification with post certificate relevant work experience.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety, and a demonstrated commitment to quality control, including ability to perform basis diagnostic point of need tests on clinical samples within the Menzies laboratory.
Demonstrated ability to undertake laboratory assays with the highest care, rigour and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to and develop resources for the Menzies-Ramaciotti Centre and Menzies HealthLAB programs, including health modules for health promotion stands and education pathways.
Demonstrated experience in facilitating focus groups, workshops, or training, and developing training materials.

Base Salary $79,299 - $85,865 per annum, pro rata (Total remuneration package including superannuation $101,543 – $109,108 per annum, pro-rata)
