Project Operations Officer - Earthworks

  • Specialise in the Supervision of earthworks in remote environments for the purpose of track, drill pad construction and project rehabilitation
  • Plan and coordinate Earthworks / logistics work in an exploration field environment
  • Frequent and irregular travel to remote exploration locations, from your base of Perth

We are looking for a Project Operations Officer – Earthworks to supervise earthworks and deliver field logistics and operational support for exploration projects.

The Project Operations Officer - Earthworks must enjoy irregular travel and being part of the exploration teams and working in remote locations but must also have a background in in drill pad and track construction, rehabilitation and coordination of logistics and operational requirements. Reporting to the Regional Project Coordinator, you will be:
  • Providing guidance and instruction to team members on Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC), earthworks technical challenges, Rio Tinto policies and procedures.
  • Supervisor of Earthworks contractors in the field, including establishment of access tracks, drill site pads and rehabilitation
  • Working with Project Managers and Ground disturbance approval team in understanding project requirements to advise, plan and implement operational support and logistics needs.
  • Providing generalist skills across a range of tasks and activities including remote camp establishment, ongoing Contractor Supervision, Environmental and Safety and ground disturbance management.
  • Supervising and overseeing the work of contractors in the field to ensure adherence to compliance, Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) and project standards

  • Ability to assess technical Earthmoving project needs, coordinate logistics and operational support tasks and prioritise work to achieve project outcomes
  • Ability to assess and apply practical judgement to identify hazards and risks, take mitigating action to achieve safe and effective practices
It will also be beneficial if you have:
  • Field Project coordinator experience
  • Earthmoving experience
  • Supervision of Earthworks contractors experience, GPS knowledge
  • Proven ability to develop positive and productive team relationships with a wide range of people
  • Computer literacy, ArcGIS / MapInfo experience, HR, LF High Risk License
