Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (including but not limited to)
Responsible for submission of Minesite tenders and proposals including:
- Laboratory layout and conceptual design
- Equipment selection
- Analytical method selection
- Staffing
- Implementation Plan
- Operational costs
- Capital expenditure investment
- Preparation of financial costing spreadsheets and supporting justification and approval papers
- Manage and facilitate tender submission requirements from support functions (HSE, HR, QAQC, Legal Review, Corporate)
- Liaising with clients to refine proposals
- Liaise with Intertek technical experts for customised methodology where required
- Analytical testwork if required
- Following approvals in line with Intertek's Core Mandatory Controls proceed with procurement of capital investment items and equipment
- Supporting and handing over to the Mine Site Projects operations Team for installation and commissioning.
- Assisting with site installation and commissioning if required
- Collaborate and co-ordinate with the Geochemistry business where the client requires both onsite and offsite services
Selection criteria
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/qualifications:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in science
- Minerals industry experience and contacts:
- Experience in minerals laboratories including at least 5 years' experience in leadership roles
- Understanding of the mining lifecycle with an emphasis on sampling, processing and analysis and Intertek's service offering across the life cycle
- Strong technical knowledge for a range of major commodities
- Understanding of quality, accreditation and HSE requirements to meet client and industry standards
- Knowledge of and experience with ISO 17025 and ISO 45001 accreditations and their requirements
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills
- Strong IT skills and ability to use all key Microsoft systems, CRM's
- Strong customer service orientation
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- Understand P&L and laboratory costings
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a high performing team
- Continuous improvement, staying abreast of innovations and potential implementations to improve process flows or offer new value add services
- Travel to minesites and client offices as required
