The Property Department oversees Council's property portfolio and is responsible for the following:
- Management of major developments on Council owned or managed land.
- Provision of leases and licences for Council owned or managed land.
- Discontinuance, sale and naming of laneways and roads.
- Disposal and acquisition of Council land.
- Strategic Property advice to the organisation.
About the Position
The Property Officer is responsible for providing technical advice and administrative support to the Property Team Lead and Strategic Project Lead to ensure the effective management of Council’s property portfolio.
This role will assist in the management of Council’s property portfolio through the development and maintaining of documentation relating to all property matters; including but not limited to land purchases and sales, road discontinuances, creation of easements and plans of subdivisions and lease and licence agreements.
The Property Officer will ensure legislative and policy compliance and consistency in the Property Team’s management of Council’s property portfolio by maintaining standardised property related documentation and accurate record keeping.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant experience in a property management related discipline, within a commercial, government or not-for-profit environment.
- Experience in a local government setting (highly desirable).
- Tertiary qualifications in Business/Property Management or equivalent (highly desirable, but not essential).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Local Government Act, Land Act, Subdivision Act, Land Acquisition and Compensation Act and Transfer of Land Act.
