About the Role
As a Prototype Fabrication Specialist, you will support our service, production, and research and development teams by undertaking a wide range of fabrication projects. Our business is constantly evolving, creating a dynamic environment with numerous ideas and limited time to implement them.
Key Responsibilities
Drawing, Fabrication, and Testing of Prototypes (70%)
- Collaborate with the Research and Development team to accelerate new product development.
- Utilize CAD and hands-on fabrication skills.
- Work on diverse projects including water and plumbing, wiring, stainless steel fabrication, mechanical drive systems, and sensor fitting.
Manufacture and Refinement of Production Jigs (20%)
- Provide irregular support to the production team by building and refining jigs, tools, work tables, and trolleys.
Procurement (5%)
- Assist the supply chain engineer in procuring new and experimental tools and components.
Installation and Repair (5%)
- Perform equipment installation and repair to understand the effectiveness of our designs and processes.
Who We're Looking For
This diverse role may suit individuals from various backgrounds including Fitter Machinist, Sheet Metal Worker, Coach Builder, or related metal trades. If you have a jobbing shop background and are looking for a step up in your career, this role could be a perfect fit.

Skills and Experience
- Trade certificate.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Competent use of fabrication tools such as Milling Machine, Lathe, Drill Press, Cutting Equipment, Brake Press, Guillotine, CNC Plasma Cutter, etc.
- Proficient in Arc, MIG, and TIG Welding (mostly MIG stainless steel).
- Ability to layout and fabricate components from samples or drawings.
- Effective documentation of all work performed.
- Ability to identify, research, and order necessary parts and materials.
- Experience with food production equipment manufacture or repair is highly regarded.
