Tresillian is currently recruiting an experienced Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker to our Macksville Unit which provides care 24 hours per day, 5 days. 

Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist or Social Worker is directly involved with families who attend Tresillian Family Care Centres.  The focus is on family functioning: enabling parents to identify and develop strategies to deal with the crises and stresses of parenthood; enhancing the clients’ awareness of and interaction in interpersonal relationship in the wider family context; and promoting the emotional and mental health of the family.

The role includes expertise in the clinical assessment and treatment of postnatal depression and anxiety and related perinatal mental health issues, including child protection and domestic violence concerns, infant mental health, parent-infant knowledge, individual and relationship counselling and group therapy. The Psychologist/Social Worker is an active participant of a multi-disciplinary team.  This involves joint work, formal and informal consultation, evaluation and planning for future directions in service delivery and staff support. The Psychologist/Social Worker works within the Allied Health Team which is based on a centralised service delivery model.

The Royal Society for the Welfare of Mothers and Babies, trading as Tresillian, was formed in 1918 to coordinate early child and maternal health care services in New South Wales (NSW). Tresillian is now the largest early child and family health and parenting service in Australia, operating from four sites in metropolitan Sydney and numerous regional and rural sites supporting service provision to families across NSW, Victoria and ACT.

Selection Criteria – Applicants must address the Selection Criteria 

1. Qualifications in accordance with relevant award conditions and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant oversight body. 

Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists: Registration with AHPRA; for Clinical Psychologists: an endorsement in the practice area of Clinical Psychology, or enrolment in an approved registrar program working towards endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.

Social Worker: Registration with the Australian Association of Social Work. Mental Health Accreditation is strongly desirable and encouraged. 

2.  At least 3 years of clinical experience in perinatal mental health practice and demonstrated clinical experience in:

a) The assessment and management of perinatal mental illness, including (but not limited to) postnatal depression and anxiety.

b) Individual, family and group therapies.

c) Attachment-based practice with parent-infant dyads.

d) Infant mental health assessment and management.

3. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with complex situations.

4. Excellent time management skills, including juggling face to face client work, completing documentation in a timely manner, and competent, independent skills using software programs such as Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook, PDF reader and client database systems. 

5. Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice, positive interpersonal skills and ability to manage conflict.

Appropriate criminal record and child protection checks are conducted for all successful candidates. Employment with Tresillian is subject to having current immunity status that complies with the Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases - Policy Directive Immunisation History Complies with NSW Health Policy Directive PD2023_022. Appointment and ongoing employment will be subject to continued compliance with the Policy Directive.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 Immunisation Medical Exemption Form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.  Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
