Western Health is seeking a suitably qualified, highly motivated and dynamic Psychologist (Clinical Psychologist; Forensic Psychologist and/or Counselling Psychologist) to join our multidisciplinary team at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC), a maximum-security women’s prison, in a full time, ongoing capacity.
This role involves the provision of evidence based psychological care as part of a team administering AOD – Health group programs; and as part of a team managing the needs of patients with short term or chronic mental health conditions within a framework of early-intervention and recovery-oriented practice.
As our Psychologist, you will be part of a well supported and innovative team and you will be onboarded with orientation and training to the custodial setting, including additional training to support the delivery of culturally appropriate, trauma informed, gender affirming care for all patients, including priority cohorts. This role is both operationally and clinically supported by Western Health staff.

To be Successful in this Role, you will:
- Have skill and experience working with consumers with mental illness and/or substance use disorders and their family and carers, including skills in assessment, crisis intervention, counselling, relapse prevention and recovery focussed principles in a brief intervention framework
- Be passionate about providing high quality person-centred and evidence-based – and have a strong interest in driving model of care and service delivery change for consumers with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions (dual diagnosis)
- Bring a sense of calm and stability in a dynamic and developing clinical setting
- Contribute flexibly, creatively and enthusiastically to initiatives for ongoing improvement
