About the Department of Education:
As part of the Queensland Government's $106.7 million Student Wellbeing Package, we are increasing the number of wellbeing professionals working in state schools and education regions across Queensland. The number of wellbeing professionals working in schools is increasing by up to 464 FTE, ensuring every Queensland state school student has access to support for their wellbeing at school.
Your Role:
We are seeking to fill the following roles (permanent/ temporary and full time/part time options) within Metro North Region, with appointment being based on your relevant experience and qualification.
- Kedron State High School - 0.5FTE
- Kenmore South State School - 0.2FTE
- Grovely State School - 0.3FTE
- Bray Park State School - 0.3FTE
- Brookfield State School - 0.2FTE
As a specialist member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will offer therapeutic support to students with mild-to-moderate mental health concerns.
Responsibilities include:
- Assess the mental health needs of students to inform appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Deliver individual and group interventions to students which address mental health concerns
- Work collaboratively with schools' leadership and student support teams to inform student support planning, and provide advice to teachers supporting students' mental health in the classroom
- Develop referral and case management processes to support delivery of the service
- Coordinate referrals to external agencies, and work collaboratively with external networks and stakeholders to ensure access to appropriate supports for students
- Provide advice and assistance to families to support the mental health of students
- Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team
Candidates will be assessed according to these responsibilities, in combination with transferrable skills and attributes relevant to the role description.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification in Psychology and general registration with AHPRA, or if a new graduate, must hold provisional registration with AHPRA with a supervision plan approved by the Psychology Board of Australia prior to the commencement of employment.
