Tennis Australia (TA) is one of the largest sport’s governing body, rights-holder, and media production houses in Asia-Pacific. We employ passionate people who innovate and collaborate to continually push the boundaries and evolve our game. TA has grown considerably in the past few years and this growth combined with an ever- changing landscape has given rise to some exciting opportunities. We currently have multiple options within the Public Relations team for experienced and creative publicity and communications specialists, including both permanent and contract roles.
We are seeking natural communicators, passionate storytellers with great writing skills, and an excellent news sense to help promote the sport, our players, events, and programs. Working with a talented team, key responsibilities include writing media releases and content for a variety of audiences, pitching story ideas and opportunities to media, as well as designing and implementing publicity campaigns for a range of programs and events.
About the role
As a member of the PR team, you will:
- Design and implement publicity and communications campaigns and content to promote various Tennis initiatives and programs, from grassroots through to Grand Slam
- Develop and deliver communications to engage and inform a wide variety of stakeholders
- Write media releases, fact sheets, stakeholder communications and associated reporting and media monitoring
- Create storytelling opportunities around athletes, coaches, administrators alongside a variety of Tennis programs and events
- Leverage major tennis events, including the Australian Open, to generate exposure for initiatives designed to get more people playing and engaging with Tennis
About you
What you will bring to the role:
- Experience as a publicist and communications specialist
- Excellent verbal and written presentation
- Highly developed writing and editorial skills and the ability to identify – and tell – good stories
- Excellent organisational and administration skills and attention to detail
- The proven ability to recognise a ‘good news story’ and promote it with relevant media
- Computer literacy with exposure to the MS Office Suite
- Strong prioritisation skills with the ability to schedule and meet tight timeframes
- Tertiary qualifications in public relations / media / journalism or equivalent experience
- Preparedness to be flexible with regard to workload, changing priorities and extended working hours associated with events and functions (including weekends and public holidays)
- You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
