Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to build and oversee the procurement process for our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing team, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that all purchases are made in a timely and cost-effective manner. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure that all procurement needs are met and the organization is receiving the best possible value for its purchases.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to meet Melbourne Place’s operational needs in line with budget guidelines.
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and compliance with precinct standards.
- Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with vendors to secure favourable agreements.
- Coordinate with Department Heads to identify purchasing needs and requirements for various Departments, including food and beverage, housekeeping, maintenance, front office and administration.
- Maintaining accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information.
- Monitor inventory levels and track usage patterns to ensure timely replenishment and maximise waste.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and financial goals.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and new products and suppliers in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and hotel policies related to purchasing and procurement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with at least 2 years in a management role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and purchasing software such as Purchase Plus.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of procurement software and systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
