Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Purchasing or Procurement role.
- TAFE or University qualifications are recommended but not mandatory.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Obtain Cost Downs on all our raw materials. You are expected to save $100,000 per year in raw materials - this would be achieved by undertaking projects thourghougt the year on various items. For example, you may find we are using two bolt sizes - an M8 x 40mm and an M8 x 45mm - you may consolidate the volumes for both and we could be using M8 x 45 for everything - this consolidation of volume increases purchasing power and saves us 10 cents a bolt which may workout to be a few thousand dollars per year (just an example)
- Lead a team consisting of yourself and one Storeman/Forklift driver. He is responsible for ordering, stocking, and providing counts of incoming goods. You will enter the invoice for the goods he receives into MYOB.
- Liaise with suppliers to address stock shortages and supply chain issues.
- Resolve supply chain problems through cross-functional collaboration with our other Department's (Production, Engineering, and Warehousing)
- Enter all invoices and follow up on any invoicing or pricing discrepancies.
- Do a Monthly Reconciliation of all Statements so they match our system.
- Manage relationships with local and overseas suppliers.
- Develop procurement strategies that minimize costs and enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain and manage all purchasing information, files, and records.
- Actively manage and optimize inventory levels within different work cells using Kanban Cards (Finished Goods, Work in Progress, and Raw Materials).
- Ensure stock adjustments are accurate, up-to-date, and minimized.
- Run a yearly stock take.
- Lead, develop, and guide team leaders towards better stock control in their respective areas.
- Coordinate the supply and delivery of purchased goods and services to meet production requirements. Your goal is to never run out of stock and therefore production never stops.
- Source new raw materials as needed, adhering to ISO 9001 principles.
